Check out this sexy couple!
What a great day this special wedding was! I hope Mr and Mrs Jenga agree! I think we were all so relieved that Shane was well and in fine form for that day. Our lives are just so unpredictable it's so hard to commit to anything, let alone being in a Bridal party. But on this day the universe conspired to ensure all went well. Congrats!
So we have now bypassed the 200 day marker. There is no news about the BMA as yet, but usually we know that no news is good news. The Doctor has now reduced hospital visits to once a fortnight as well as Shane's Tacro to 2mg in the morning and 3mg in the evening. His blood pressure medication has been ceased as well as the liver protective medication. Thats the good news.
The other news is this ongoing eye saga. I never realised it would go on for this long and the consequences of this condition.
This photo to the left is the original CMV infection - thats the yellow / white patch in the middle.
The image below is looking at the same area where there is not much evidence of CMV any more, but plenty of scarring on Shane's retina. Thankfully this part of the eye does not affect his vision.
The last blog post I said Shane was going to have laser surgery to fix some haemorrhaging, so I took the afternoon off work to take him. But the Doctors decided that they needed to do further testing on Shane's eye to gain more information about where the bleeds are and what exactly they are caused by. Unfortunately, the machine that does this testing had recently broken down, so they needed to book him into a private clinic.
These next few images are from the Fluorescein Angiogram where a dye was inserted into Shane's veins and then images were taken. You can easily see the concerning areas in the next few images.
This image to the right is the healthy left eye. Shane has also lost some vision in his right eye due to retinal swelling, hopefully this will improve somewhat, but there will always be a difference between the left and right eyes.
The dye is interesting - Shane has been peeing fluro yellow all afternoon, plus they managed to get it all over his hand. Thankfully it washed off easily enough.
On a good note, Shane is smashing out some strength training at the moment! This is him completing his third set of chin ups! What a legend! His body is already changing shape and filling out a little more - especially around the chest and shoulders. His bum still needs a little more work:)
He's also getting bored during the day which, although not great for him, is a good sign. It means he has energy and a need to be "doing" something during the day. Now, if only I could convince him he "needs" to be doing more around the house...
Peace xx
